To work in Thailand you need a work permit. To be able to obtain necessary documents to apply for
the work permit, you will need a Non Imm B visa. The director at your school needs to sign the
documents needed to apply for this visa. In Thailand there is no roaming work permit. All work
permits are ONLY for one job, if you change schools, your work permit will expire (within seven
days), and your new school will need to apply for a new work permit. You might ask yourself “but if
I need a job first before I receive the documents to obtain a work permit, and the regulation says, I
need to have one to be able to work in the first place – it’s a Catch 22 situation. I need a job to
obtain a work permit, and I need to have a work permit to work”. Yes that’s true, that is of course
impossible. The Ministry of Education & Labor and Immigration know that this regulation is not
correct and will give you and the school time to apply.
